Climate

produced by Engagement Squared

This page currently is an information site for a project to create a short public service video regarding burning fuel at night. Will eventually be a permanent climate page.

The Engagement Squared platform crowdsources best practices which will include crowdsourcing opportunities to protect the environment.

Environmental Public Service Video

Reach out to audiences beyond environmentalists to engage in climate action

Video description: Convince audience to lower winter night temperatures for health reasons which coincidentally results in less carbon released.

  • Get better night's sleep by
    • lowering winter house temperature at night
    • avoiding late-night fireplace/wood-stove burning.
  • Science: 65-degrees results in optimal sleep.
    • Save the environment by improving sleep.
    • Burn less fossil fuel at night.
  • Seek feedback from viewers to assess effectiveness and improve message.

Payoff: Results begin immediately. Benefits continue throughout viewers’ lifetimes.

Audience: The video emphasizes brain, health and beauty advantages of sleeping in cooler temperatures. Environmental protection is secondary because the target is the person who might view pro-climate actions as a personal sacrifice.

Hosting: Municipal/county/state websites. Tool for policy makers, climate-planning committees. Social media.

Funding: All work was done for free in furtherance of saving our grandchildren from climate disruption.

  • January 8, 2022 - Script written, filming scheduled to begin this month, late January 2022
  • January 7, 2022 - Basic scientific assumptions reviewed and confirmed by friends in the science community
  • December 22, 2021 - Anatoly Vaisman, independent Los Angeles filmmaker joined team; will write script and shoot video.

Background: The idea was initiated a few years ago when I had to turn central heat off one winter night and our whole family discovered we got the best sleep of our lives. We researched the science behind it and immediately decided to keep the heat off at night all the time. Has been successful for years which confirms that it is sustainable, feasible and worth sharing.

Kindly let me know if interested in helping. Thanks and take care!

About writer/director Anatoly Vaisman

I first noticed Anatoly’s short films on social media and was instantly impressed with his timing, scripts, and cinematic production values.

I’m a filmmaker myself but realized Anatoly's gift was making scientific topics entertaining at a level that was unmatched at independent filmmaker levels. I reached out to him, cold called without knowing him, and to my delight, he immediately agreed to make the climate film for free.

Anatoly jumped on the project and in a short time, delivered a finished, beautiful, and broadcast quality video. He just blew me away and went far beyond my expectations.
